On August 3, Princess Madeline and Princess Annabel turned FIVE! That is hard for me to believe. I wanted to celebrate their day in a way fitting for a couple of princesses. They were begging for a "Frozen" party, specifically a "Frozen" swimming party, but I opted for a little more low key celebration. So they got to choose two friends ... Molly and Eleanor ... and I planned a "girls day out" for the four of them. I suggested they all wear princess dresses, which was apparently the "best idea ever!" We got the girls each a new Elsa dress (they both wanted to be Elsa) for their birthday that they had to wear, and Molly and Eleanor wore their Elsa dresses too. So we loaded up the car with four Elsa's and hit the road.
First stop was the nail salon. We let these beauties get their nails and toes painted in any color they chose. And after choosing some crazy colors, they finally settled on pretty pinks and blues ... the blue to match their dresses, of course.
Next stop was to walk around the corner to the $1 Jewelry Galore store for a little shopping spree. On the way, we ran into these nice firemen, and the girls had to check out the truck.
Who knew that getting $5 each to spend ANY way she wants in the $1 jewelry store would make little girls so happy?! I asked each one to show me her favorite thing she picked out. Some funny choices ... Madeline's pink flower clip on earrings, Eleanor's black/white bow headband, Annabel's "rainbow necklace," and Molly's pink flower hair clip.
Watching them check out and proudly pay with their "own" money was priceless. Then it was on to downtown for a nice little brunch/lunch.
Their birthday weekend continued on Sunday, which was their actual birthday. Had a yummy breakfast of pumpkin pancakes on their special plates.
Their choice of a birthday activity was to go to Chuck E. Cheese, so we headed there for lunch.
Then we had small gathering of family and friends over for cake ... a Frozen themed cake, of course (with an interesting way to write Annabel's name).
And presents! (Elliot was not happy that they were not for him.)

Birthday celebration #3 was at their school that Tuesday when we took cupcakes for all their friends. And they got to partake in the tradition of walking around the candle five times and then blowing them all out.
I am still trying to come to terms with them being five and starting Kindergarten. More on that later ...
