A Day at the Farm

We went on a fun little field trip yesterday.  When I told the girls we were going to a farm, they said "to see chickens? And cows?  And horses?"  ha.  Nope, a different kind of farm.  A cotton farm.  They were a little let down that they wouldn't get to see cows or horses, but being able to pick cotton quickly cheered them up.  They loved it.  It was actually a trip with James's playgroup, but I let the girls tag along too.  And I'm glad I did because I think they enjoyed it more than anyone else in the group.  They were happy girls!

They were "planting" their cotton seeds in the dirt.

We got to ride a tractor, too!  Well, James did NOT want to ride, so he got down after the picture taking, but the girls enjoyed it.  Annabel even got to drive.  Look closely behind the wheel below.

Then back to playing in the rows of cotton.

We also got to go to grain bins (or whatever they are called for cotton) and play in the cotton seed.  Annabel was a little unsure about it at first ... it was kind of noisy in there and dust and cotton particles flying around everywhere ... but Madeline loved it.  She did her best at climbing the cotton seed mountain, and loved sliding down it.

It was a fun fall day with our friends!
