James started a new school! He loves Montessori and is making new friends already. He comes home telling me about what activities he did that day and who he played with. I think he especially likes a couple of little girls in his class. Already the ladies man!
We took a little field trip to the zoo. The girls have been a few times but love it even more each time. James went once last summer, but he was barely 1 and miserably hot that day, so he did not get to enjoy much. This time he loved. it! And the girls and I had a new experience ... we rode Homer the camel! And they got to touch the stingrays. Madeline was actually the only one who would touch them. Annabel just wanted to watch, and James wanted NO part of that.
And we all went to a fun concert on the lawn of the library. Grandmommy went with us too. My kids did surprisingly well sitting still and listening to the music ... and even got up and did some dancing. The free ice cream helped. James was the funniest. He was mesmerized by it and sat watching intently and patting his foot and bobbing his head to the beat. He was getting in to it.
We celebrated Father's Day. Yay, Daddy! We love you!
Then the girls and I went to Dixie Band Camp to watch granddaddy "be a conductor," as the girls said. That was so much fun for them and me. I sure wish he had directed a band while I was there. Sounds like his students loved him. And Annabel got to see a tuba up close and meet a GIRL tuba player! She was in heaven. Every day for the next couple of weeks, they asked if we could go back to the band concerts. Annabel wants to play the tuba, and Madeline wants to play the "baby flute."
And just because we can't get enough music around our house, the girls and I had another "date" and went out one Saturday night to watch daddy play drums. They loved that, too! I had a hard time keeping them from trying to go sit on his lap while they were playing. We definitely might have some drummers in our future.
And of course we went swimming, played outside, went for walks, rode bikes and scooters, and all that other good stuff.
Elliot had a good June too. He is getting around faster and faster now that he actually crawls and is up off his belly. He loves exploring! And he loves the outdoors just as much as the big kids!
Whew, that was a fun-filled busy month. Can't believe summer is flying by so quickly!
